ADVENT Week 1 - HOPE
Image Andrew Chinn
Heavenly Father,
As we light the candle of Hope today, we are reminded of the promises You have made throughout history.
You promised a Saviour to a world in darkness, and You kept Your word, sending Jesus to be the light of
our lives. Thank You for the hope we find in Your unchanging love and faithfulness.
Lord, sometimes we face challenges that feel overwhelming, and it’s hard to see what lies ahead. Yet even
in the darkest moments, You call us to trust in Your goodness and hold onto the hope that only You can
give. May this candle remind us of Your presence, shining brightly in our hearts and guiding us through
uncertain times.
Fill our hearts with renewed hope, Lord, and help us to share that hope with others. Let us be a light in the
lives of those around us, offering encouragement and pointing them toward Your love. As we wait for the
celebration of Jesus’ birth, may we grow in faith, trusting that Your promises are true and Your plans are
always good.
Amen.

St Mary's Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal
St Mary’s Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal
Our Mini Vinnies group have begun their Christmas Appeal-our special way of reaching out to those in need in our local community.
There are several ways in which you can help. This is certainly not compulsory, so please do not feel obliged to participate, however you may wish to choose one or more ways of helping.
Christmas Hampers – Children can bring in items of non-perishable food or drink (maybe think of something you like to eat or drink at Christmas) and we will make up Christmas hampers for St Vincent de Paul to distribute to families in need in our local area. Hamper collection boxes are set up in the foyer of the school, Bellingen IGA and at the Church.
Giving Tree – There is a Christmas tree with gift tags on it in the school foyer. Each gift tag has the age and gender of a child, plus there are some gift tags for adults too. We are asking you to take a tag and buy a gift to suit, wrap it, put the tag back on the wrapped gift and bring it back and put it under our giving tree by Monday 16th December.
If you are interested in taking a tag from the giving tree please see Mrs Dagger first so we can mark your name off to show who you are buying for.
Donations - if you would prefer to make a monetary donation you can drop it into the office and we can go shopping for you.
Pete’s Place - Pete’s Place is a facility in Coffs Harbour run by St Vinnies. It provides much needed services for homeless people in our local area and is run by donations and the work of volunteers. We will be delivering tubs of toys/presents for kids to Pete’s Place just before Christmas so people can choose a gift for their children. If you would like to donate an unwrapped gift or wrapping paper we will have a tub in the foyer at school.
Icy poles - Mini Vinnies members have been selling icy poles on Wednesdays and Fridays and will do that until the end of term. All icy poles are $2.00. All money raised will go towards purchasing items for the Christmas hampers and for toys to donate to Pete’s Place.
Together we can make a difference
Thank you for your kindness and compassion,
Mrs Dagger and the Mini Vinnies group
As we approach the end of another fantastic term, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate some recent achievements and share the exciting events ahead for our students.
Making a Splash with Intensive Swimming
Over the past few weeks, our students have been diving into their intensive swimming lessons with enthusiasm. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow and their swimming skills improve. A huge thank you to Linda, our incredible swim coach, for her dedication and hard work over the years. Linda’s expertise, patience, and encouragement have been invaluable to our students, who all agree that she is the best swim coach around.
Year 6: Looking Forward to What’s Next
For our Year 6 class, the countdown to graduation is well and truly on! There’s a mix of excitement and anticipation as they prepare for their high school transition day, where they’ll get a taste of what’s to come in this exciting new chapter.
We’re also looking forward to celebrating all their hard work with the Big Banana Water Slide Fun Day—always a highlight of the year! Finally, our Graduation Ceremony at the Bellingen Golf Club will be a special evening to reflect on their journey at St. Mary’s and wish them well as they move on to high school. It’s such a privilege to share in this milestone moment with our wonderful Year 6 students and their families.

We are a Food Allergy Aware School. Your cooperation would be appreciated in talking with your children about the importance of not sharing food or putting any food items close to another child. We are requesting that families talk to students about the importance of not playing with food and sitting to eat.
