Trinity Sunday 15/06/2025
Let’s celebrate the Trinity – the Father who is creator of heaven and earth; Jesus who suffers as one of us; and the Spirit who pours the love of God into our hearts. (Fr Frank Brennan)
The Jubille Boat which is the travelling symbol for The Year of Hope will be in our Parish Tuesday 22/7/25 to Sunday 27/7//25.
Children in Kindergarten are continuing to build their alphabetic knowledge and they have had a little bit of help from our versatile Miss Danny (AKA Danny Dingo). Last week we had Dancing Disco Danny Dingo pay a visit.
Last week, Year 4 students participated in the ‘Accendere’ retreat. They had a fantastic day exploring the theme of friendship through games, stories, Scripture, prayer and team building activities.
Children will be walking down to Bellingen High School on Friday for the Athletics Carnival and we will be spending most of the day there. Please ensure that they have snacks, water and a hat. Sunscreen will be provided but if you are able to ensure they start the day with the appropriate sunscreen that would be great. Lunch orders have already been delivered to the High School so if you have missed out on getting a lunch order in, make sure they also have lunch packed.
If you are able to assist on the day, we are always very grateful for helpers.
The school will be closed for part of the day. If you need to contact the office please do so via email bellp@lism.catholic.edu.au
Stage 2 Students Exploring the Sun with Shadow Science!
This term, our curious Stage 2 scientists have been learning all about the Sun and how it influences life on Earth. As part of our Science unit, students have taken on the challenge of designing and testing their very own sundials—an ancient method once used to tell time long before clocks were invented!
After learning about the history and purpose of sundials, students experimented with different materials and locations to create their time-keeping devices. Each sundial required a gnomon—the part that casts a shadow—and our creative learners didn’t disappoint! Some students used recycled items, others selected natural materials like sticks or stones, and a few even used playground equipment or their own bodies as the gnomon!
This week, students will be testing their sundials in different locations to see how the position of the Sun affects the length and direction of the shadow throughout the day.
Stay tuned to see what they discover as they step into the shoes of ancient astronomers!
Last week as part of the Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival, we were very fortunate to have a visit from the amazing author, Jacqueline Harvey. Jacqueline captivated students in grades K-6 by reading from her books and sharing stories about certain characters and places featured in them.
Diocesan Cross Country Success!
A huge congratulations to Charlotte and Henry who represented our school brilliantly at the recent Diocesan Cross Country! Despite a challenging lead-up with venue changes and flooding, both students showed incredible resilience.
Charlotte placed an outstanding 9th in her age group, and Henry achieved a commendable 22nd. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and sportsmanship.
A big thank you to the families who supported Charlotte and Henry on the day!
ThinkUKnow and Cybersafety Session for Stage 3
Last Wednesday Stage 3 had a visit from Youth Liason Officer Senior Constable Tegan Baker. She talked with students about topics including Cybersafety and keeping your identity private while online. The students were highly engaged and Officer Tegan answered many questions. Please follow the link for more information about this aspect of the session;
