Stage 3 Celebrate Jubilee and Eco Art Success
Stage 3 students at St Mary’s Primary School, Bellingen, recently took part in a Mini Pilgrimage around the school grounds, finishing at the church. Organised by Mrs Dagger as part of the Jubilee Celebrations, the pilgrimage was a chance for students to slow down, reflect, pray, and be present.
Over the holidays, Stage 3 also achieved success in the Eco Art Project, winning a prize for a sculpture they created with their Kindergarten buddies. The artwork, made from recycled materials, was praised for its creativity and both classes are to be congratulated for their wonderful efforts.
Well done to all involved!
Mr O’Shea
Stage 2 were blessed with beautiful weather, as they embarked upon their excursion to Bongil Bongil National Park. The students have been learning how to bump up their writing using tier two and three vocabulary.
It’s been an exciting time in Kindergarten! In Geography, we’ve been learning all about different types of structures, especially homes built for different needs and environments. The kinders loved getting creative and designing their dream homes! They put so much thought into their designs and then shared them with their classmates. It was so much fun hearing their ideas – there were chimneys, elevators, pools , and even homes with slides instead of stairs! The design process led to some great conversations and lots of imagination.
We also went on a very special visit to St Mary’s church. The children were so excited to meet Father Paul and explore all the things we’ve been talking about in class. They were curious, respectful, and asked lots of great questions. Father Paul was really impressed with how much they already knew! A few lucky students even got to try on some of the vestments, which was a big hit.

Bullying can happen anywhere, at school, at home and at work. It can happen to anyone. Bullying is never ok.
The first step to address bullying is to understand exactly what bullying is.
A formal definition of bullying for Australian schools has been developed by the safe and supportive school communities working group.
This national group includes all state, territory and federal education departments, as well as national catholic and independent schooling representatives.
The definition says bullying is an ongoing misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that causes physical and/or psychological harm.
It can involve an individual or a group, misusing their power over one or more persons.
Bullying can happen in person or online, and it can be obvious, overt, or hidden, covert.
It’s important to know that single incidents and conflict or fights between equals, whether in person or online, are not defined as bully(ing).
Bullying of any form, or for any reason, can have long-term effects on those involved, including bystanders.
This definition has been developed as part of the national safe schools framework, and can be found on the safe schools hub.
Sometimes things that are called bullying, are not really bullying at all.
From the national definition, we can identify the three main features of bullying.
It involves a misuse of power in a relationship, it is ongoing and repeated and it involves behaviours that can cause harm.
Finding positive solutions to bullying involves everyone. Having a shared understanding of what bullying is or isn’t, is a very important part of this.
